Our Mission is to cultivate a community of care by offering support and instilling hope to our neighbors facing adversity.

Our Vision is to initiate and implement a variety of programs and services which meet our client's immediate and long-range needs.
We realize that this is possible only through the financial support and the volunteer services provided by the community.

OUR HISTORY

The Grandview Assistance Program (GAP) was first located in the First Baptist Church of Grandview as an outreach to the community. GAP was conceived by the then Mayor’s wife, Linda Wilson, local pastors and concerned citizens along with support from the Jackson County Advocate (James & Aggie Turnbaugh), Grandview Church Alliance, Grandview C-4 School District and the City of Grandview with the purpose of providing for the children and families of our community. Many of the local pastors and leaders from the community thought that it would be a good idea if there was a central agency to where people could be referred for emergency assistance. 

With those thoughts in mind, GAP was formed in 1991. In 1992 the first Board of Directors – President, Linda Wilson; Vice President, Rev. Carroll Clark; Secretary, Sarah Plunkett; and Treasurer, Kevin Watson; applied for and received 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit status, and also became a Missouri Not-For-Profit Corporation. United Way agency status and funding were granted during the first year of GAP’s existence. GAP outgrew the space at First Baptist Church and moved into a larger space at Grandview Middle School. In 1999 GAP moved into a free standing building that is leased through the Grandview School District and is where we are currently located.
